Est. 1883
Rooted in the tradition of the Brigantes, we carry forward a legacy of independence, excellence, and the pursuit of truth.
“Knowledge is the inheritance of all humanity — not the privilege of the few.”

The University of Brigant was established in 1883 with a singular mission: to democratise access to world-class education whilst preserving the highest standards of academic rigour.
Named after the Brigantes — the most powerful Celtic tribe in ancient Britain — our institution embodies their spirit of independence and resilience. Today, Brigant serves over 54,400 scholars across 61 countries and territories, with a growing on-campus community in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
